Othello Play: Character description
People say that William Shakespeare is the greatest writer in the English Language, and I must agree. Othello is such a great dramatic and tragic creation made by William Shakespeare. This play have many interesting characters, whit his owns goals that combined made this play work in a brilliant way. I was not hard to me to make a decision of what character was the best. Like I said before every character was interesting and has his own working structure, but it was one that capture my attention more. The character I chose is Iago. I choose this character because I thing he acts or the way he acts is similar to many people in our time, to bad but truly I must say. Other thing that attract my attention about this character was that he is the only one ore the most that makes soliloquies in the play.
Iago is such a delightful character; you can perceive it as a long you get involved in the play. He knows his business very well. Iago is the villain of this tragic history. It is a very astute person and with an extreme ability to persuade others. He uses people and takes advantage of them to achieve their goals. I think he was a supporter of the phrase “En la guerra y en el amor todo se vale”. Iago does not care if he has to pass trough others, even his wife, to get what he wants. He was smart doing huge plans and thinking strategies, but he was not smart enough to think about the consequences of his acts. His jealousy does not make him realize all the horrible things he was making, that is why he ends like he deserved.
